A good workday starts early and ends early – I’ve always been the type of person who would wake up/start early, because the rest of the day is that much sweeter. I always thought that productive people should be rewarded by being allowed to leave once their tasks are completed.. unfortunately, we have trained a society that “kills” 8 hours every day to get a paycheck, instead of applying themselves and finishing the same amount of work in less time – and then being free to go. I guess that’s the left-over economist in me – I seek efficiency (it’s not about the time spent, it’s about the time well spent!).
My days are filled with music, coffee, walks & creative brainstorming sessions. As certain projects come to an end, new alleys and opportunities await and I want to make sure my creative juices are a-flowin’.

How do you “get in the groove“?

A shot of rakija does the trick.
Joking aside, I play mu favorite music loudly and I am ready to start the day.
Nikola, rakija would put me right OUT of the groove.. Haha.. But I see your point!
My working day gets started at the coffee house like Starbucks, not at home. With a cup of espresso, I open the laptop and then start to read articles, capture images for about a couple of hours that I have subscribed in order to gather information and get inspired. After six hours staying at the coffee shop with inspired and productive works, I do whatever I want, such as jogging, workout, watching movies or american dramas, taking photos and playing billiards or tennis to be rewarded.
When it comes to the time efficiency, I totally agree with your thoughts, but our society, especially in Korea, seeks hard workers, which means they much prefer workers who start to work early and leave as late as possible rather than efficient workers. That’s why I got the hell our of previous company and work by myself.
Love the graph and your thoughts on efficiency – totally agree!!
I’m not a morning person by any means and I’m not an avid coffee drinker either, but my most productive hours are spent whenever I’m doing something I enjoy – whether that be in the morning, afternoon, or evening. Regardless, no matter what time I’m working away and being engaged in what I’m doing, good tunes are key to a happy and ‘busy-bee’ me. My ipod is with me at all times because you never know when creativity and inspiration will strike!
I begin with beautiful pure silence and once I’m in the middle of something, I switch to very loud music. I’m a little neurotic with getting “set up” when I sit down to work. I need to have everything done right: clean space, all my tools, water, fruit etc. I’m definitely most productive in the morning so I try to get up early enough to go in this order: yoga>shower>breakfast>work>play>work>play>sleep. That would be my ideal day, every day.
Whoa guys, loving the feedback!
Music seems to be a part of everyone’s routine ?
What get’s me in the groove is def waiking up early but without alarm clock, doing a yoga practice or jog, eating some fruits and demoing my fav black tea. If I do that in that exact order I’m off for a good start!
also, the ability to be spontaneous is so energizing for me as opposed to tight planned schedule. Oh and yes, daily walks in the park
*having* my fav black tea
not a morning person (I wish) – but coffee helps
as does good music, lunch with dear friends, a walk…
if I get bored with one task, I stop – switch to something else, then come back to it
